Question by Raindrops_on_Roses: Post surgery question–possible allergy to Vicoden?
Yesterday I had surgery to remove my wisdom teeth, all went well, no problems, all that jazz. But shortly after I got home, I drank a milkshake and took a vicoden pill, just as the doctor had recomended. A little while later, I threw up my milkshake, and threw up three more times throughout the day. Could this be an allergic reaction to the vicoden (and therefore in future surgeries I should alert the doctors about this issue) or could this be just an after effect of the anesthesia and eating too soon?

Thanks for your answers and help.

I had surgery on my leg not 2 months ago. So I understand what you are going through.

You could possibly be allergic to the medicine. However, I truly believe that it is a reaction to the anesthesia. I woke up from surgery and was very nauseated. My doctor gave me something to help.

I think that you are fine and it will wear off. But seeing as it’s late, i’d monitor it overnight and see how you are in the morning. If it becomes worse, contact your doctor in the morning.
